Newbury Duathlon: First race of the season completed!

Despite entering two events earlier this season and not being able to make the start line due to one reason or another, I actually made it to Newbury! This is the 3rd year running I have used this race as my first race of the year. Its incredibly well priced, great course and well organised, although the weather can be a bit hit and miss. Subsequently each year the run course has been different. First year, it was as it should be, last year when it was snowing, bitterly cold with a nasty northerly wind, the run was cut short, and this year, it was changed again, and I would suggest a tad over 5k, but off road, bit muddy and hilly, good scenery and well marshalled. The bike course is a rolling course, and the second run is a repetition of the first one, so you know exactly whats coming. Subequently, you cant compare your times from year to year, however, I have consistently pulled a win out of the bag for each one,so Im not complaining. H

Thanks to Planet x for a great trisuit and bike, and Apres for helping my legs to recover after the event. Great to see fellow club member Dave racing as well. If you are looking for an early season race next year to blow away the cobwebs, have a look at http://teamkennet.com/.
2 weeks now until Horst to find my running legs!
