Cotswolds, Vitruvian Bournemouth and Bowood

Well done team to another great weekend of racing! First up, post wedding and short honeymoon was Helene at the end of season Cotswolds Standard. With a celebratory lead into the race as apposed to a taper, she put in a solid race, despite opting for a non wetsuit chilly swim and heading a little off course on the bike. Finishing 2nd in AG 6th overall and despite the detour, fastest bike split, all is looking good for Valentia! Next up was Kate, who in the traditional Covid style, hadn’t raced in quite a while, was racing in the Vitruvian to remember what middle distance is all about, in practice for Portugal 70.3. Clearly all the hard work in training is paying off, as despite the lack of race practice, Kate posted a great time, solid throughout and finished 3rd in her AG. Next up on Sunday we had Briony racing in the Bournemouth Sprint and Jess, Eric and Sophie racing in the Standard distance. For once the sea was relatively calm, and it was dry, which makes a change from some of the previous local events! Briony, again who has not raced since Covid, put together a great first race back finishing 4th in her AG, Jess and Sophie, 5th and 6th and Eric taking the win in his AG. Some useful practice for the 70.3 events next weekend! Mike was  racing in the Bowood middle and stormed it. A pb by 11 minutes, and on a tough run course! Finally and by no means least, Richard completed the Salty Sea dog 2.5k, a good swim considering the tide on the way back, taking the AG win.

Onto this coming weekend, we have Weymouth 70.3 where Jess, Louise, Izzy, Matt, Richard,  Becky U and Salam are racing.  Liam is racing 70.3 Marbella, and Hector 70.3 Italy, Katie is switching it up with a swim run swim run race and Georgia is sticking with the running with a 10mile road race in Holland.  Lots happening!
