20 – 30
How long you have been racing in Triathlon – Multi-sport – Running?
I’ve only very recently taken up triathlon, with boxing and rugby having dominated my sporting endeavours until 2013. I completed my first triathlon in September 2012 without any training but this gave me the bug to take up cycling in December 2012 and join Tri Purbeck in July 2013.
What do you enjoy most about your training?
I enjoy the feeling you get after a really long hard workout of feeling like you’ve flushed all the tiredness and stress out of your body and knowing you can pig out for the rest of the day and not feel guilty.
What do you find the hardest about your training?
Swimming is my weakest discipline but I am growing to love it!
Your highlights and greatest achievement so far?
I cycled solo from Brussels to Rome in 21 days, including 3 alpine passes and a summit climb, over August and September 2013 which was pretty epic.
To complete Ironman New Zealand in Taupo on the 1st of March 2014.
How has Goal Specific coaching benefited you?
Quite simply I’d have no idea how to get myself into the condition to complete an Ironman triathlon without Fran’s guidance. She’s also willing to go the extra mile and meet up and share her experience on things such as nutrition and race kit, which is invaluable to a novice like myself.
