How long you have been racing in Triathlon – Multi-sport – Running?
I have been running for about 10 years but only about 3 miles once a week. Then I joined TriPurbeck and became involved with Fran at Goal Specific. I did my first triathlon in 2010 and have been training with TriPurbeck and Fran at Goal Specific since they were set up.

What do you enjoy most about your training?
I enjoy working alongside others in the group, which means that I push myself harder.

What do you find the hardest about your training?
The hardest part of training is running on my own as I’d much rather run with a group at club sessions.

Your highlights and greatest achievement so far?
Greatest achievement so far was a silver medal in the World Duathlon championships in Ottawa this year which came as a total surprise to me, as I haven’t done any sport competitively since I left school many years ago.

Goal
My main goal for 2014 is to do well in the World Duathlon championships at Pontevedra in Spain, although it may be difficult to surpass my achievements this year!

Qualifications

How has Goal Specific coaching benefited you?
Coaching has helped me achieve success in Duathlon this year. I have received lots of advice and encouragement from Fran to keep me going. I am currently participating in swim coaching sessions and have seen a great improvement in my stroke. Previously I could only swim breaststroke, so hopefully I will complete my next triathlon in front crawl. For me the best part of Goal Specific Coaching is being part of a group where everyone can progress at their own level.
