Latest Goalspecific Athlete news

This weekend saw a few more athletes racing across the south west! First up was Liz H running in the Bath half marathon for charity. Despite being quite poorly on and off these last few weeks, Liz (eventually!) listened to her body, backed off last week and rested up to see if she could get herself fit for the Bath. Honestly, my feelings were to not race, but Liz was determined not to let all those people down who had sponsored her in support of her chosen charity, and braved the wind and the rain. AND….posted a PB!!! How about that!? Very impressed, so well done Liz 1hr 44 with 3 wee stops and taking it carefully…..There is plenty more to come there.

Whist Liz was up in Bath (as was Tripurbeck John S, who also posted in the 1hour 40s (I wonder whether they were running together!) Isobel was heading towards her first 5k event of the season. No, not a park run, nice and flat, on road affair, it was the Tiff Enuff in Weymouth, which involved lots of mud, obstacles, and general toughness! These were her words:

“it was cold, windy and wet, and my heart was full of regret for signing up for this silly thing…but i strapped my chip on, kept my head down and slithered over and under nasty obstacles…i admit that a few leg ups from a few gentlemen did help and all in all it was good fun! I can’t believe my result on 4th overall in the 5k and 1st girl – don’t mess with Rossi :-)

Brilliant result.

Whilst they were racing, Ade myself and Zena were coaching the Junior Squad, and a great effort was put in from all athletes. Not long now until the Bath Junior Duathlon for the team, however, next up is Brendan in the Dambuster Duathlon Championship this saturday, and a fair few juniors racing in yet another cross country championships!
