Colins Cotswold 226 Race Report

So here I stepped up to do my first Iron Distance event. Having suffered a few minor injuries at the start of the year I felt in good shape leading up to the event after a successful season in the Navy series.
I set of on the swim and completed in a time of 1hr11mins, I have no idea where the pace come from but I was more than happy.
Heading out onto the bike focused on my heart rate and trying not to go too hard. With a tricky head wind for around 90miles in total I managed a 6hr03mins on the bike and was feeling really good.
Heading onto the run, I started off really good and felt strong, no pains in the legs and it was like all my training paid off.
Coming up to lap 4 and with the heat playing a huge factor I just crashed and it soon turned into a run walk with it all being a mental effort to finish the race.
Managed to finish in a time of 12hr 18mins which I’m more than happy about for my first attempt with an overall placing of 48th out of 150.
Already booking on next years event as I want that sub 12hr
