Ventoux duathlon, Weymouth 70.3, Dorney and Dawlish sprint
A couple of weekends ago, Emma took on the challenge of Ventoux long course duathlon. This included a first run of just over 8km, then 103 km ride, with 2,210m of elevation, to finish with 18.6 km run. I am tired just thinking of the load on the legs! However, Emma trained hard, and consistently for this race, and as ever, put in an incredibly strong race finishing 8th overall female and 2nd in her age group!
Moving onto the shorter faster races, congratulations to Jonny coming 2nd in his age group at Dorney sprint, and Lucy who won her age group at the Dawlish sprint and and followed it up with 2nd in the Torbay sprint this weekend. An excellent way to finish the season.
On Sunday 19th Richard lined up for the Weymouth IM 70.3. Conditions were pretty much perfect (unusually for this event in September) and Richard took full advantage with a storming swim coming out in the top 10 in his AG. The bike was always going to be a bit of a challenge having not really been a main training focus for the year however Richard pulled out a very solid split before a strong run to bring home a 25th place AG finish in a new course pb and in the top 25% of his AG.
