Peguera Challenge 2026
Challenge Peguera features as one of the many goalspecific races where a number of the team come out to enjoy the sunshine and an excellent race in Mallorca. This year Annie, Noah, Jack, Katherine, Adam and myself took on the challenge. Frustratingly in the lead up to the race, both Annie and Noah came down with Ades cold, however despite feeling a bit under the weather, they still lined up, both putting in solid performances. This was Noah’s first long distance triathlon, and his excitement and enthusiasm pre, during AND afterwards was commendable. He executed it perfectly, so hopefully this will be the first of many. Annie, who is also racing next weekend, decided pre race that it was probably best to call it after the bike, as her cough was not shifting, and did not feel 100% going into it. Yet she also finished the race, jogging around with Jack for a lap or two as well, chatting away, and has recovered well, so we are looking forward to going into Greece, hopefully fit and well. Adam, Katherine and Jack had really solid races, Adam flew around, achieving a new PB on the course, and Katherine, only a week out from winning her AG at Gevena Hyrox, took the overall win in her AG - absolutely brilliant. Finally onto my race! Sadly post San Remo my toe had not fully recovered, so I was going to have to play it by ear. I had a great swim for me, and had the fastest female AG bike split, absolutely loving the bike, got onto the run, and the first couple of km was ok, then sadly the toe just got worse and worse. After one lap, Ade went to my apartment to get my training shoes to see if the wider toe box would help. It did for about 1km then back to more pain and discomfort, and with Greece next year, we felt it was unwise to push through it this time, so called it quits after 10k and in the lead by 16mins. Frustrating, but the right decision, as a trip to the medical tent resulted in a rather painful 10mins of having the infection drained, followed by a trip to the Drs to have it treated and strapped. Ade then had to leg it to find a pharmacy that was open for a course of antibiotics and cream. The Dr was confidence that 3-4 days the infection and swelling will be sorted, so Greece may still be on the cards!! If nothing else, it will be another great chance to enjoy the new bike in a beautiful place.
Meanwhile back in the UK both Martin and Becky were back on the podium again in respective half and 10km runs, with the Wemouth 10 coming up this weekend. Then over to Gerona, Gav raced the SGRAIL100, having a great weekend.
One more triathlon to go before the team is back to running races, duathlons and some consistent winter training!
