2026: half marathons, marathons and cyclocross.
It may be the wettest winter for decades in the UK, but that has not stopped numerous members of the goalspecific team braving the wind and the rain to test their legs in a variety of on road / off road running events and last weekend, a cyclocross. In January Adam raced the Maverick half which I think may have been the muddiest and wettest half he has ever done (and long,) whilst Becky and Martin took on the 12km in very similar conditions! A few weeks later Martin then took on Portland half, still wet and muddy, and came 2nd in his age group. Whilst he was battling it out on the Dorset hills, Kevin (half) and Mel (10k) braved the very exposed Dorney lake, both winning their age groups. Next up was Michaela, posting a pb in her half marathon, followed up the following week with Katherine winning her age group in a local half marathon and Mark posting a great time, especially considering the lack of sleep, travel and navigating numerous nursery bugs being brought home.
Last weekend Kevin travelled to Croatia for Split marathon and Emma took on a cyclocross for the first time in Fife. Despite a nightmare journey out there, with flights being cancelled and only getting there the afternoon before the marathon, Kevin executed the marathon perfectly, and despite the hilly wet and cold nature of the course, posted his 3rd fastest marathon time. Meanwhile back in Scotland, Emma battled the Scottish elements, which are pretty harsh in February, but despite the wind, cold and lots of mud, she loved every minute and finished in the top 10! Brilliant work Team!
Lets hope Spring will arrive soon with some drier weather for more early season racing!
