Dorset training camp and Venice 703
Our annual training camp this year shifted from February to the May bank holiday, as anyone who came last year was almost put off cycling for life due to freezing rain, mist, wind and just general UK winter rubbish. It started with those who could make it down joining Tripurbeck for the weekly Friday evening interval run set at Sika woods in the warmth and sunshine. This was followed by Saturday morning hill reps with a short nasty run set off. Both of which were in the sunshine and warm and executed perfectly by the team. The 100m hard descending reps were nailed in the pool (some may argue that it was a 25m, 6 laned sauna, certainly was poolside) to be finished with a 60min S and C session lead out by our inhouse PT Noah, who pitched it perfectly for our tired bodies. The day finished nicely with the Italian Kitchen providing a lovely social setting and meal to refuel those that could make it, ready for an enjoyable social ride on the Sunday.
Whilst we were busy chatting and riding around Dorset, Kevin was nailing Venice 703. This was his first 703 of the year, and despite being in great shape, a hamstring niggle had meant a period of no running, so the aim was a solid swim / bike and go with caution on the run. As ever, Kevin delivered exactly that, and posted his fastest 703 to date, by 11 minutes and that was with a careful run. Impressed as always and looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season pans out!
Next up will be Katherine and Michele at 70.3 Mallorca, and Annie, Eric and myself in the Challenge Salou Middle. Also, Mark will also be taking on the Bristol half marathon and Richard is racing the Hardy Half. Then only a couple of weeks until our Alpe D’Huez training camp!
Good luck everyone!
