European Sprint Championships Tarragona and more UK racing
Another great weekend of racing from the team started in the European Sprint Championships in Tarragona, Spain where Rose and Annie were representing team GB in their age groups on Saturday ahead of the elite racing in the afternoon. It was hot, but that didn’t stop both of them from producing fast swim legs with Rose exiting the water a minute down of the lead. Rose has worked really hard on her swimming in the last couple of years and what used to be her Achilles heel is turning into a real strength. She followed this up with a super strong bike and toughed it out in the heat on the run to bring home an excellent silver medal :-) Annie also put in a really strong bike and although a little hampered on the run by a recent back issue and the heat, she came home in 4th. No medal this time but an excellent race all the same.
Back in the UK, and the weather perked up nicely for Martin in the Weymouth Classic although it still hasn’t warmed the sea up to a acceptable temperature! Unperturbed, Martin put in a solid swim before speedy bike and run legs brought him home 2nd in his AG and 12th overall. A fab result and 13mins quicker than his best previous time on this course!
Finally Katie was taking in a 10k beach run and made it pbs all round with a 3min improvement on her previous best on the course. Another great result.
More to come next weekend including Fran and Jack taking on 280km and 3000+ meters of climbing in Italy Chase the Sun…… that’s if we get our passports back in time!!
