News from Athletes

2 weeks now until Mark will be taking up the challenge of his first ironman in Lanzerote. This will be Marks first triathlon event, and the key is holding him back at the moment. Swimming and biking have been going really well, unfortunately run training has been hampered with an ankle injury, however, its all about the experience, having a race day plan and sticking to it, and subsequently, enjoying the event!! Then some recovery, followed by some hard training in preparation for Wales in September!

Adam and James have been taking up the Tuesday evening timetrials run by Weymouth and their bike fitness is really benefitting from it. Adam is off to Barcelona next week, as he will be racing 70.3 Barcelona on the 18th of May, so loads of luck for Adam in his first 70.3, and looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Liz rode the distance at the weekend as well in the Wiggle Jurassic Beast, great preparation for her first middle distance event in September.

Chris has also been working hard on his bricks as is racing at Sherborne in the long course duathlon event. A tough run bike run, looking forward to seeing how it goes, as it will be his second ever duathlon, and 4th race this year, the second being ironman new Zealand!

As for me, I was meant to have been racing at Steyning at the weekend, and the training was going well until I fell on Thursday on a training run, inverting my ankle. I couldn’t actually walk on it for two days, so there was no chance of racing….Physio appointment this afternoon, and we shall take it from there. Fingers crossed training will resume to normal by next week, as Rapperswil 70.3 is approaching quickly now, and I haven’t competed in a triathlon this year yet!

Results and race reports will follow!
